DESCRIPTION: EPW - F. Dent, 61 Strand, London, Watchmaker to the Queen, quarter-hour repeater, 51mm, heavy 18K gold original demi-HC bearing London hallmarks for 1860, "A N" marking in oval cameo for Adolph Nicole, case with hinged front and snap on rear, rear with fabulous scrolling and foliate engraving set against a stippled background, front with demi chapter having blue enamel Roman numerals and a surround detail of floral design, inner rear engraved "To J. Adalberto Roig from Father June 10,1924, M.I.T. Cambridge Mass," white enamel SS dial with unusual offset seconds-register at 11, blued steel double spade hands, SW-pin-set, capped duplex escapement, jeweled repeat train, gilt mvt with keyless winding system by Adolph Nicole, s#27127 with matching serial number within case and on the dial. Gross weight of assembled watch 79.1 dwt (123.1 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: GRO, good repeat function and tone, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, few fine and micro-fine scratches, some light clouding of gilt surface at some areas, very light oxide to steelwork; near flawless dial with a short very faint hl between center and seconds-register; excellent hands, minute with finish loss and oxide to its tip; case shows very little wear, no dents or dings, superb crisp engraved detail; tight bow, crown shows hardly any wear; good glass crystals.
